I'm back at work and feeling fine!

First, thank you all so much for the wonderful comments and encouragement. I can't believe I'm banded and I'm really feeling good. I'm back at work this morning and not having any issues at all. Looking back on the whole experience, it wasn't bad at all. The first night was rough, but after that I just kept getting stronger and stronger. Getting up and moving really helped a great deal with the stiffness and gassy feelings. I haven't taken anything for pain since the first night. So, all in all, I would say, not too shabby.

My doc allows thinned solids on the first week, so after day two I had some mashed potatoes thinned and I've had cottage cheese for breakfast this morning. Once I was able to have a little something more substantial than liquids, my energy level really picked up and I'm feeling good. I'm really lucky to be a back sleeper, since my neck injury I had to learn to sleep on my back and I'm really glad that I do, sleep has not been an issue.

I see my doc on Thursday at 9:30, and according to the nurse, he may advance me to solids already. I experienced a little hunger yesterday, but I ate a very small amount of mashed potatoes and was completely satisfied.

So, Pearl and I are getting to know each other and I'm so thankful that I've had this blog community to prepare me for the surgery and the time to follow, you guys are absolutely the best. Thank you so much!

Isnt it so amazing how just a little real food gives you so much more energy. Makes you think about the whole "food is fuel" thing.

I am glad you are feeling better and back at work!

I'm so glad to hear you are feeling well and that it has all gone so well for you! I think you are right - getting up and moving has probably helped immensely. My mom used to tell all her patients to get up and move as getting the blood moving again can help you heal so much faster! She was put to the test when she had a hysterectomy and had to follow her own advice. But she healed so much faster than her surgeon had anticipated that she ended up with four weeks off of playing time. She'd had six weeks off...and two were spent healing but the last four, she felt fine. Anywho...

Glad you are back to work. I hope you do get to move solids, if you are ready! I like your doc! Sounds like a great approach - by the person!

Hey girl,
So glad you're feeling better already. Who knew this whole fuel for food thing was actually a goer. But we just proved it yet again. You don't eat you lag.

I can't believe you were not on my blog list and I missed your banding! Well, sounds like you are doing great. Can't believe you are working already!

My doc allowed thin solids the first week and it really helped a bunch. Don't forget the faux lasagna - low fat ricotta topped with spaghetti sauce and a little parmesan or mozarella, nuked in the micro. This was my fave mushy!

Your doc is totally right about avoiding protein shakes. They do nothing for the band, just add calories.

Hope you continue feeling better!
