Time to baby my band...

It's time for me to get back to basics, time to stay on liquids and mushies until my band decides it likes me again. I don't know what's going on, but I'm super tight. I've thrown up more this weekend than I have since I've had my band. Friday, I got stuck at lunch and PB'd, stuck on mashed potatoes, and then I ate some gumbo that evening, no rice, just the juice....stuck and violent PB. Saturday, I ate 1/2 of an avocado, smashed up....stuck, PB. I ate soup later and that was fine. That night, we had boiled crawfish no problem with them. Sunday, soup for breakfast...fine, soup for lunch....fine, later some chips...fine. Then I had a dinner party to go to, the first course was a bisque, stuck...PB, I threw up 3 times at the dinner party and when I got home I was miserable and telling my hubby I want an unfill right away. Last night, I wake up, can't drink water. This morning, coffee....barely goes down. I had some very soft oatmeal for breakfast and it was fine, but I'm really sore, my throat hurts, my chest hurts and it hurts between my shoulder blades. I'm tired of getting stuck and getting sick. I don't understand why all of a sudden I'm so tight. Plus, it makes me worry that I'm going to damage my band or my esophagus this way. Any suggestions for how long I should stay on liquids/mushies to make sure the inflammation is gone? Any one else having issues with sudden tightness? I'll take whatever advice you've got.

Other than the sucky stucky part of the weekend, things were good. Like I said we had boiled crawfish this weekend and they were delicious, I have some left so I'll be making and etoufee (pronounced A 2 fay) this week with the tails. I have been working on a painting of a crab for one of our friends and painted all day yesterday, I'm so pleased with the way it's turning out. I can't wait to finish this week. Our kids are good, my hubs is good, life is good.

Take it easy!

Big Hugs,

T

Poor thing. I hope your band starts treating you right again. I have read on other blogs about sudden tightness. Take care of yourself.

I don't have much advice for you but I am sorry you are feeling so rough. I have been tight one week and then not the next and now I am back to being a little tight! It seems to me that if I eat later in the day that it gets better. Doesn't seem to be the case for you! Crawfish! Yum! Jealous. We don't get much around here.

I have had this going on for the past couple months. I recently had an unfill and thought it was better but no... I know part of my problem is that I am not careful enough when I eat, don't take my time and so on. I would suggest one day of full liquids (tough I know) then one full day of mushies. I am currently doing this as well, it always seems to improve things. Also, taking a dose of children's liquid tylonol helps!

I would give it a good week. Now you not only have to get the swelling down but your stomach has to do a little bit of healing because of the vomiting. Just make sure you get in plenty of water. :)

OUCH!! I had the same problem at the beginning of last week..it is almost like I got caught up in a cycle of stuck-ness. Eventually I loosened up (to my peril as I am now up a few pounds).

I think it is mostly hormones but a good full 24 hours of liquids has helped me in the past when I got stuck and needed to let things heal.

Do you think you get stressed out a little when going places or talk so much that you forget to chew? I find I have much more trouble in social situations/work/trips than I do when I am just at home??

xxxoooo

I hope you feel better soon. Unfortunately no advise since I am so new and yet to really feel tight. So strange how it just comes on. Separately I wish I could taste that étouffée!! I love Cajun food and New Orleans!

I so hate how sometimes there are freaky changes with no explanations. If it were me - I'd go ultra conservative and do total liquids for two full days. No idea why you were tight to begin with, but I've had what I've termed "violent pbs" and I know they absolutely lead to... something like imflamation and the only thing that helps me is to really go slow. I start with water based protein drinks and work my way up to milk based.

When I can get down those Special K protein drinks which are thick and creamy and cold - that really seems to help. I think the milk and the ... I don't know... coldness - somehow really sooths my system.

But.. I'd do 2 days of liquids and 2 days of mushy before I tried even crawfish again. I hate hate hate the cycle of that kind of tight!!! I hope it goes away very, very soon!!

Oh wow! I hope the unfill does it for you. I can't imagine.

The etoufee sounds delish! Glad everything else is going well for you.

I am the self=proclaimed queen of sudden tightness! Don't know why it happens but when it does, you really need to give the inflammation time to heal....if you don't, it will repeat and get worse until you end up like I did with a complete unfil :( Do the liquids/mushies like you said for at least a day maybe 2 and see how it goes. If you still have a problem, I would call doc.

Oh my gosh, you poor girl. I really feel for you, that sounds like a godawful few days.

Stay on liquids for a day or two and then call the doc. When I had a similar experience in September I needed an unfill - not a total unfill, just 1 cc - for a week to get the inflammation down and properly rehydrate. After that week I had more fluid put in and things got a lot better.

Take it easy, girl. I'm so sorry for you, I really am.

i'm so sorry you have gone through all that!! for some reason, mashed potatoes get me every time!!!! I think I need to go back to basics a bit as well, as PB'ing is a bit too common for me as well.

I agree with clear liquids for a couple days but if you find you can't drink, you need an unfill pronto! Hope it loosens up for you soon.

My band clamped shut two weeks after flying home from Mexico. I tried fluids, mushies to no avail and had to go for an unfill (I drove 4 hours to my clinic spitting up the entire way). So try the liquids to calm it down. But watch carefully and don't feel bad if you need a slight unfill. My clinic said there may have been a bubble in my band which changed with the altitude changes on the plane. Sucks. I have less than I had a year ago.

Get an ufill right away before you irritate your band further. I had issues and had to have all the fluid removed except for 1 cc in my 10 cc band. Hope you can get in soon.. I was told if you get stuck you should do clear liquids for 24 hours and then slowly increase to mushies and soo on..

Wow...that stinks. I hope it gets better soon! And, by the way, I'm totally taking a roadtrip and coming over for dinner. :) I love me some Cajun cooking.
